It's a BOY!

Call me nostalgic, but it's been a little over a year since I found out I was having a baby boy. Those who know me will tell you that I had always dreamed of being a mom. I was fortunate enough to have been blessed with an "easy" pregnancy but because of that, time felt like it was moving so fast. There were a lot of decisions to make- birth plans, baby registries, research on diet and exercise, choosing a doctor for delivery, finding a pediatrician, creating a nursery, and determining whether or not to know the gender.

It's actually a super hard decision to make because both parents have to be on the same page with this one. I knew that I was the type who HAD to know. Lucky for me, Frank is easy going and understands my high anxiety/OCD need to plan and organize everything in life. He was on board with my decision.

I remember the doctor asked me if I wanted to know the gender and I said yes. We added it onto a blood test that I had to take early on in my pregnancy so I found out well before the 20 week mark. The doctor had called to ask if I wanted the results over the phone and I said no way! I asked her to seal them up in an envelope. Even though I wanted to know the gender, I still wanted to make it a fun surprise! I wanted  us to be together with our families and to make the surprise exciting still! That was when I decided to do a gender reveal box.

The vision of the box was so easy to come up with. One trip to Hobby Lobby and we were pretty much set! We used a wardrobe packing box, painted it white and then painted the cardboard letters and decor. We came up with the vision together, but it was all Frank's patience and talent that made it come to life. It could not have been more perfect! My friend and photographer, Courtney Perakis (all photo credit goes to her), was kind enough to take our sealed results and fill the box with balloons.

On the most beautiful October day, we gathered at the park with our family and captured one of the most exciting moments... it was a BOY! I would have bet a lot of money that it was a girl, but God sure did surprise me. That was one of the best days and I will cherish these photos for the rest of my life! People have told me that life only gives you a few good surprises and I can now say that (in my opinion) whether you find out at the hospital on delivery day or you find out sooner, the surprise is still just as exciting!
