Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Happy Saturday! It's gloomy here in Chicago with a ton of rain. I wore this fun outfit out yesterday, which was perfect for our confusing weather. I always hesitate to buy vests, but I picked this one up on major sale and love belting it for more shape. And a little pop of leopard print always seems to brighten my day!
Anyways... lot's going on in the shopping world. This time last year, I was going absolutely nuts during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I bought Tory Burch riding boots, a leather jacket, leggings, tunics, sweaters, booties, dresses, makeup, a bunch of clothes for Frank and the baby, etc. Basically- I purchased my whole post-pregnancy wardrobe on sale. It was madness.
This year is quite different. I'm avoiding the sale as best I can, and actually, it's been nice not checking my phone every two seconds to see if they've restocked things in my size. Short of buying a t-shirt and a pair of leggings, I haven't really been all over the sale.
Frank and I have some exciting things coming up this year and so my frivolous spending habits are on lock down. It's not that they really need to be, but I decided to make it my own personal goal to be more resourceful in my closet. I am trying to only mix in new pieces when something is missing or needs replacing. And even when I do that, I try to find items that are way on sale.
However, for those who are not on a budget, or maybe you are but you still want a few new things, the Nordstrom sale is a great way to stock up on items for fall. The sale is unique in that it doesn't put end of season items on sale, they take up to 40% off of brand new items for fall! I usually have two things in mind when shopping the sale-- boots and coats. If you're in the market for either of those items, now is the time to buy. They have a great selection of boots and booties that are perfect for next season and nearly all of my winter jackets have been Anniversary Sale purchases. If you're in the market for a new wardrobe, I recommend stocking up on basics-- sweaters, leggings, long sleeves, and jeans. These are the types of things that you'll be thankful to have all fall and winter long and you can get creative on how you style them.
This year, I was happy to snag a pair of Spanx leather leggings. I actually own a pair already, but I paid full price. Since they were one of the only things that fit post pregnancy, I've washed and worn them a lot and decided to pick up a fresh new pair. I am linking them below and highly recommend them! I'll also link a few of my favorites from the sale, which I am resisting all temptation on.
